The Fiction and Nonfiction of Marty Meyer-Gad

Marty Meyer-Gad reflects her eclectic life in the diversity of her writings. She writes fiction for both adults and young adults, as well as creative nonfiction, with her memoir, “Seventy-Four Cents.” Learn more about her stories below.

Art Imitates Life

She just published a novel, titled Of “Priests and Porcupines,” which circles around Lake Superior. Her middle school series, titled, “Kimsara Detective Agency,” retrieves lessons learned from the seventh graders she taught.

Her memoir, “Seventy-Four Cents,” puts her ordination as a Roman Catholic priest in context. Her years working as a temporary in dozens of jobs have yet to be fictionalized.

Though born in Minnesota, she spent her young adult years in Toledo, Detroit, Chicago, etc. She returned to Minnesota with her husband in 1989 and recently moved to Mankato to be close to their grandsons and parents, which may fuel a new direction in her writing.
